LOW INTENSITY LIGHT/LASER THERAPY
Ingrid began using Laser therapy many years ago. In the beginning the only therapeutic lasers that were available were Class 3 Lasers. They were ok but they were not effective for large areas, backs or hips. Why? Because they couldn't go deep enough to make a difference and they just didn't have the technology then to reach deep layers. Also it was very time consuming. For example the size of 6 playing cards took 65 minutes! Then came Class 4 Lasers. They were pretty good in the beginning, much faster and could go deeper but still Ingrid was not getting a lot of success with hips and backs as the power only went up to 10 W. Then came LightForce® EX therapy laser and her entire practice changed! What used to take 65 minutes now took 8 minutes and she could get much deeper penetration. The results were phenomenal.
The LightForce EX is designed to help achieve a more consistent positive outcomes for the most difficult clinical conditions. The LightForce EX therapy laser is the perfect combination of power, intelligence and versatility. Featuring up to 15W of therapeutic power, the LightForce EX therapy laser facilitates fast and efficient treatments deep in targeted tissues. Experience the soothing warmth and powerful benefits of the LightForce EX therapy laser.
What To Expect
Laser therapy is a non-invasive technique to help reduce pain and inflammation. Laser therapy can be safely used as an adjunct or replacement for pharmaceutical drugs. This pain relief treatment is FDA cleared and enables patients to have an alternative to drugs and surgery.
Laser therapy treatments last between 5 and 30 minutes depending on the condition being treated. Laser therapy treatments must be administered directly to skin, as laser light cannot penetrate through layers of clothing. You will feel a soothing warmth as the therapy is administered.
Depending on the condition being treated your therapy may be administered through either a contact or non-contact hand piece. The contact hand piece is designed to allow the practitioner to physically manipulate the tissue while administering the treatment, resulting in a laser-massage treatment. This allows for light to penetrate deeper into tissues than the non-contact hand piece due to it’s ability to displace tissue through a laser-massage technique. The non-contact hand piece is great for working on joint or along the spine. Ingrid may ask you to move the joint while she lasers the area. This method can be very affective and People often feel the relief as she is doing it.
Patients generally see results after 1 to 5 treatments. She will develop a treatment plan that is optimal for your condition.
In her clinic she uses a combination of Laser, Acupuncture (both with needles and needless) and Shiatsu/Acupressure. The results speak for themselves.
TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM)
TCM is a set of healing modalities whose fundamental premise is that all things in nature are interrelated, interconnected and possessed of a vital energy called Qi (pronounced "Chi"). In the body there are many kinds of Qi; heat, cold, blood, fluids, bone etc. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), good health is manifest when all the types of Qi are flowing smoothly and freely. When this happens, organs, tissues, joints are nourished, which can resist external causes of disease, and our system thrives. Conversely, when the normal movement of Qi is interrupted or blocked, then what is called a “pattern of disharmony” is expressed and ill health results.
It is the fundamental goal in Traditional Chinese Medicine to restore circulation and thus enable the body to produce and maintain an abundant supply of this fundamental energy called Qi.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine surgical-grade needles at various points in order to strengthen weak qi and to restore a state of well-being.
Ingrid also uses a needless type of acupuncture in some instances. A device that sends an electric current into the acupuncture point is extremely effective for some types of situations and much faster than needles. She will decide what the best course of action is to get the best outcome int eh shortest amount of time.
CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
Chinese herbal medicine represents one of the main methods of treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Many of the herbs in the vast TCM material medical have been used for thousands of years. It is not only their individual properties that are of great importance but also how they combine with one another in a wide array of formulas. In fact, it is quite rare to use an herb alone in TCM.
This form of herbal medicine not only looks at the presenting symptoms that may be causing discomfort or concern but the greater pattern from which these various symptoms emerge. That is why a headache, for example, can be treated with vastly different herbal combinations from one patient to another, and also why it is vitally important to avoid self-prescribing herbs. After completing a thorough health assessment, Ingrid may prescribe a formula tailored to your specific needs.
Because TCM focuses on balance within the body as a whole, the herbal formulas work to return homeostasis and therefore help promote a strong constitution with increased resistance to disease, greater vitality, enhanced energy, and general well being.
Nutraceuticals are dietary supplements taken by mouth that contain a "dietary ingredient" intended to supplement the diet. The "dietary ingredients" in these products mayinclude: vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, glandulars, and metabolites. Dietary supplements can also be extracts or concentrates, and may be found in many forms such as tablets, capsules, softgels, gelcaps, liquids, or powders.
In some cases Ingrid may suggest Nutraceuticals to help speed recovery along.
Ingrid has studied both Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine (from India). At times she may suggest certain changes to your diet to help the body to heal especially from chronic conditions.
SHIATSU MASSAGE (Acupressure)
Shiatsu is a unique, non-invasive therapy designed to stimulate the body's inherent ability to heal itself. Literally translated, the Japanese word shiatsu means "finger pressure." Shiatsu therapy involves the systematic application of manual pressure to the body in order to assess and treat a variety of conditions. Shiatsu treatments have a regulatory influence on the autonomic nervous system, thereby improving organ function and reducing muscle tension.
Shiatsu therapy is a distinctly Japanese contribution to holistic healthcare and has evolved out of 3,500 years of oriental medical wisdom. It is founded upon the same principles as acupuncture, although no needles are used. It also incorporates the modern Western sciences of anatomy, physiology and pathology. Shiatsu therapy has been fully incorporated into the modern public healthcare system of Japan, and has been regulated as a distinct therapy by the Japanese Ministry of Health since 1964. Ingrid usually does some Acupressure during your session in combination with Acupuncture and laser.
